On June 4th, the ACRON members came together at the charming Kasteel Woerden for our annual Spring Members’ Meeting – a valuable opportunity to reflect, look ahead and share knowledge.
First, I want to congratulate Willem Meeuwsen (Allucent), who was unanimously appointed as a new board member during the general meeting.
The meeting opened with an update on ACRON’s financial status, confirming that the organization remains financially stable.
We provided an update on our strategic focus areas. Supporting the National Action Plan for Clinical Research, coordinated by the DCRF, is an important strategic focus for ACRON. The progress of this plan was discussed in detail during the meeting. ACRON is actively involved in all associated working groups through designated representatives. Below is an overview of the current status:
🔹 Academic Excellence
A nationwide survey has been conducted to map existing research networks. Follow-up interviews are planned to identify opportunities, challenges, and needs.
🔹 CTA Implementation
The new standard Clinical Trial Agreement (CTA) has been published. The current focus is on practical implementation and annual evaluation.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact: [email protected]
🔹 Standard Contracts
Work has started on developing a template for a Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDA), alongside efforts to standardize other contract types. A separate working group will be reviewing and improving the budget negotiation process.
🔹 Promotion of Research Participation
Objectives are being revised and translated into actionable recommendations, aiming to increase participation in clinical research with attention to feasibility and impact.
🔹 ICF Template
The Patient Information and Consent Form (PIF/ICF) is being revised with a focus on language clarity and visual design. The new template is expected by the end of 2025 and will also be available in English.
🔹 VGO/LUH
Subgroups are updating and simplifying legal documents, implementation tools, and best practices. An updated version of the Statement of Suitability of Research Institution (VGO) is expected before summer.
🔹 Facilitating DCT – Remote SDV
With Remote Source Data Verification (SDV) now permitted under certain conditions in the Netherlands, a working group will develop practical guidelines. Members have already received a call for participation.
Finally, we touched upon the initial preparations for the EUCROF Conference 2026, which will take place in Amsterdam. ACRON is closely involved, and the event presents an excellent opportunity to position the Netherlands as a strong player in international clinical research.
To close the day, we enjoyed an energizing “Match & Connect” networking session. Through a series of speed networking rounds, we practiced stepping out of our comfort zones, building trust, and learning how to grow and maintain our professional networks. It was a fun, dynamic, and inspiring finale that left us all feeling a bit more connected.
Thanks to everyone who joined us for this memorable day. We’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to come together!
